Killer Mike’s Michael was one of the contenders for album of the year along with the likes of Jaguar II by Victoria Monét, Coming Home by Usher, Pink Friday 2 by Nicki Minaj, For All the Dogs Scary Hours Edition by Drake, and eventually defeated them all to take the biggest award of the night home.

Despite losing the album of the year award, Victoria Monét still emerged as one of the BET Awards’ biggest winners and walked away with the coveted video of the year award for “On My Mama”. She defeated tough competition in “Bongos” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, “Agora Hills” by Doja Cat, “Barbie World” by Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice, and “First Person Shooter” by Drake and J. Cole, among others. This song also won her BET Her Award.

Tyla was named the best new artist and best international act, winning two trophies. It was also Usher’s night to shine and he attended the ceremony as this year’s recipient of Lifetime Achievement Award, in addition to being named best male R&B/pop artist.

The 2024 BET Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California on June 30, with Taraji P. Henson returning as a host.
